Here is spam similar to what I received from Orkin this week. I’m guessing that Orkin hired some outside company to help them build links probably paying big bucks for this and yet the company doing the link building is asking for free links! I’m going to write back and see if they will add me to their site :)
Dear Website owner.
My name is Tiffany and I am contacting you regarding your website.
I’m working with Orkin, a leading pest control provider. We feel that the information on your site very useful and informative. We think that adding a link to our Millipedes section would be a nice addition for your visitor and inform them more about Millipedes and other insect pest.
Would you please consider adding a text link to the following URL: orkin.com/other/millipedes?
To add it your site, you could simply copy and paste the code below:
< a href = orkin.com/other/millipedes ">Millipedes
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Kind regards,

Orkin, you’re being a pest!
Orkin is a big name. But, it is unfortunate they are making backlinks,so, what we will think about them? What is necessary for a brand, quality of service or advertisement?
Yup, brands are ranking well right now. This latest update was suppose to fix all that, but as you know, anything goes with an update. Best bet right now is to kick back another week and see how Orkin and others building links like this do.
Jim – I sure hope so. Orkin is still ranking really well, however. There is another site in the pest control space (Pest Mall) that does nothing but spam .edu blogs with their comments, leaving a link back to their site as their name and they are ranking even higher than before. To me it seems like the search results are worse than before the update, for some terms…
Orkin also buys a lot of links. Some links they pay hundreds per month for. This is not a suggested practice, yet Google still ranks them highly for the big keywords. Just because Orkin is a big brand name it doesn’t mean they shouldn’t have to follow the rules!
Did you hear about the Former Orkin Pest Control Employee that collected $5M in a Whistle-Blower Lawsuit? Search Google.com for it and read up.
Okay, Tiffany contacted me again!
I have two sites, one covers herbivorous insects in general and another more focused on millipedes. Because the millipede is herbivorous, I link to this site from my more general site.
Tiffany from Orkin web link development did research on my millipede site and tracked any links coming into that site, then looked up the restricted whois information, grabbed my email for that site, then spammed me with the following:
So, Orkin Pest Control is finding popular sites and writing the owners to obtain links, then also finding anyone that links to that popular site and trying to get them to replace or add their link as well. If anyone is wondering how companies such as this are building links, here you have it!
Orkin Pest Control keeps on spamming with total disregard for rules set forth on harvesting email addresses from whois information; illegal and very irritating!
